How do you feel about books about dogs or pets? Fluffy stories of fluffy family members? Solid books on training them or taking care of them? Touching reminiscences of trouble and the way a person’s dog (or pet) has helped get them through? (Mind you, almost all the pet-related books on my shelf are about dogs, but I’m well aware that people love their cats, horses, ferrets, rabbits, fish, etc. just as much, so … any species is fine!) Any favorite books to recommend?

My answer:
Chi's Sweet Home series by Konami Kanata.
The series is told from Chi, the kitten's point of view. Chi was adopted by a family with a son who later grew up with her. Many ups and downs and it is very interesting that the author seems to know what is going on in a kitten's mind!

This is the second book in the Watersong series. After Gemma went missing in Wake (Book#1), Harper, Alex and Daniel spend endless times and always on the lookout for her trails. They have reached out to the police, read books on sirens and even went to seek for spirit's help. All these went without any results until one day Daniel found an article in the local newspaper that could lead to where the sirens are.

While everyone is searching for Gemma, she discovered her siren-self further. She is staying alive by swimming in the ocean. No matter how much she resisted the change, there are things she could not control. The more she knew about the sirens, the more she felt uncomfortable. The only reason she followed the sirens is to stay alive and keep her loved ones save but how long could she be away? How long until they found her? What would it take to return to her loved ones?

p/s: I seriously didn't know Watersong is a quartet! Now I wait for the final book to be out in August 2013. Mr.August, please come quickly!

Gemma loves swimming. Her dream is to make it to the olympics so she is practicing hard. Not a session with her coach missed. Along the way, the fell in love with Alex, the boy nextdoor (literally) who is also her sister's bestfriend. Gemma, her sister Harper lives with their father Brian. Their mother is mentally unfit to be living with them after a car accident.

Gemma's water and swimming addiction has attracted a group of girls' interest. What she didn't know is these girls are not only amazingly beautiful but they are also cursed. One night, when Gemma was swimming in the ocean, the girls lured her to join their "party". Little did she know it was a trap to make her a siren like the other girls.

With the recent disappearance of boys and girls in the neighbourhood, her father has set a curfew for her to be back at 11:00pm. The party she attended caused chaos when she didn't return until she was found on the beach the next morning. She noticed changes in herself as well but she could not be certain until she had a talk with the other sirens. That also gave her answers to the mystery behind the people disappearances in the neighbourhood.

She has to make a decision now; follow the sirens to stay alive or stay back with her loved ones and die....

A book about Angus, a struggling writer who went to an island to have a little time to himself to complete a book while he is in recovery state after learning the love of his life, Fey is getting married to another man.

Never did he expect, he would be under the good moon while he was on the island. He met Beth while he was chilling by the beach. They fell deeply in love. Beth then had to head back to the city while Angus stayed back. While she was away, Angus won a lottery ticket; enough value for him to survive, drink and party. He only had a little affair with another girl, Hilda. Hilda fell for him. He felt good spending time with Hilda but he is very much in love with Beth.

He then left the island. His book deal had to be dropped but apart from that, life is great for him. Beth, his lucky star is with him. He won another lottery. His book was still incomplete. They look forward to going back to the island. Angus rendezvous behaviour is still unknown to Beth!

p/s: My first alternative book. Bought from I AM LEJEN. Very light reading. Easy to understand. Not suitable for underage readers. Angus to me is a crazy man. How can one live just by drinking and partying? His life mantra is just drink, women, sex and lottery! Beth could somehow help drive him to be sane. Maybe I should write a sequel to this book to end it the way I want it to end. :)

If there is anything good about reading this, it makes me feel that writing it possible for me. :p

i am lejen

Brief Description:
Indie bookstore selling alternative books.

I have always passed by this shop whenever I go to popmyberry to get my Blackberry cases. I have always read the name of he shop but never looked into the shop maybe because the t-shirts on sale are not dominant to the view at one glance.

Anyhow, here I am tonight! :) They are known for selling alternative books. Aiming to encourage non-readers to generate interest to read. I hope they are successful at this! There are more and more people spending time doing everything else but reading. Sad but true especially with the growth of technology. It is not entirely bad but rate of interest people have in reading is deteriorating. :( In a simple line: The community would rather spend time on technology than reading. Why? Reading is boring. They said.

I AM LEJEN. Don't quite know where the name came from but I figure it is a combination of Malay and English for I Am Legend.

For those of you who are in Klang Valley, this shop is in Subang Jaya SS15. ;) If you are not in Klang Valley or Malaysia but interested, they have an online shop; http://shop.lejenpress.com/shop

I am very much intrigued to go to this shop because of the alternative genre. I know alternative music but alternative books? Interesting.

I first thought they only sell Malay books. When I stepped in, the first book I held was Wedding Speech. English! Phew! Nothing wrong with reading books in Malay language just that I usually have trouble reading it; need to reread few sentences or paragraphs a number of times to get it. Enjoyment could be turned off that way. Hahaha

Pardon the quality of the pictures. Need upgrade of my gadget man!

The following is the first bookshelf many will upon entrance. They are currently having discounts. :)

Buku Paling Laku. In English: Best Selling Books. Yes, I have to look for the translate button at he back of my brain to get this sign when I first saw it because it isn't familiar to my eyes whenever I ht bookstore. Alternative yea? ;)

This shelf looks nice!

Walked out with 2 books. 1 In Malay and another in English.
My first alternative reading! May book-loving person like me enjoys it.

The book in Malay title is Awek Chuck Taylor. Very famous and recommended so I'm giving this a shot despite being nervous about reading in Malay language(it has been ageeeeesss.Seriously!)

The other book is Timid. From the summary on the back cover:

"Nobody ever loves the same way twice. Angus was in love with Fay. Fay left and married another man. Devastated, Angus went to an island trying to forget everything. Angus met Beth. Fell in love. And the rest is written in this book. "

So....I guess buy this book? I bought. Mr.Husband paid. ;)

Fret not, books are reasonably priced.

Watersong Series

Gah! Just when I thought it will be just a trilogy, it turned out to be a quartet!

I have kept the first two books on hold until the third book is out. I have finished reading 2. Bought the third book and now contemplating to read the third book. Guess I'll just wait until the final book is out; Fourth!

Nothing big going on in book two; Lullaby. Can August come quickly? ;)

p/s: Will post a lil something on the author one of these days. Yes, I'm in love with this new genre!
