Books Vending Machine

You read that right! Books in Malaysia will be as accessible as F&B! :) I was overjoyed when I first read the article published in The Star. This has been done in other countries some time ago like Germany and US.

MPH never fails bookaholics! I can't wait to see the vending machines in action! ^___^
Not only will be books be more accessible, it will be cheaper too!!!! How cool is that? ;)

Bumped into a blog on this! Bibliobibuli covered the awesome subject matter in 2005. Click here to
"flip" to the entry. In the meantime, I'm going to drool onto the vending machines around the world. Feel free to join me by clicking on the image below.

Times Bookstore Membership Renewal

Among many bookstores in Malaysia, Times Bookstore's members benefits are great. Best bit is 10% discount on book purchases.

Recently, I went to Plaza Damas to drop by the Times Bookstore Sale. If you refer to my last 2 post, it isn't as good. Might as well just go to the store and grab books there while the world book sale is still on.

I renewed my membership at RM15 for 2 years. Not to bad at all. Guess what? I got RM15 voucher to spend after the transaction! The renewal was FOC. *grinssss* I'm not too sure if the voucher is given everytime but I got it! Thanks Times! :)

I have til end of next month to spend. Then my birthday month will come. Another privilege to enjoy!

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

Booking Through Thursday - 10/3/2011

Do you multi-task when you read? Do other things like stirring things on the stove, brushing your teeth, watching television, knitting, walking, et cetera?

Or is it just me, and you sit and do nothing but focus on what you’re reading?

(Or, if you do both, why, when, and which do you prefer?)

My answer:
I multi-task! I walk. I sing to music. And these days, I read while driving(that is when Im stuck in traffic jam and the car is not moving!). Most of the time, I read while waiting for something and that something can be anything. hihihi I have even finished reading few chapters while chatting on the phone. ;)

Anyhow, nothing beats sitting down in a comfortable position in a comfortable chair with soothing instrumental music in the background! =) I definitely prefer THIS!

50 Books in a Year 2011 Challenge

Here I am in March! This post has been procrastinated for too long. I've participated in the 2010 100+ Reading Challenge last year but failed as work has caught up with me. And on top of that, I had my wedding to plan for. ;) This year, I'm going to participate in a challenge which is more achievable. Still a challenge as work is still WORK. We are now only in March so I should have suffient time!

If 50 Books in A Year 2011 Challenge is foreign to you, click here to find out more about it. The organizer has been organizing this since 2009! In my opinion, it is simply awesome as I believe it is achievable by everyone!

To following are the rules of the challenge adapted from the challenge announcement.

1. The goal of this challenge is to read 50 books within 365 days. Very reasonable, no?
2. Anyone can join in. You can enter your name in Mister Linky below or leave a comment-- whatever you like.
3. Everything counts: any genre, eBooks, AudioBooks, re-reads, textbooks, books read for other challenges.... As long as it exists and you read it, it works! (Essays, single short stories, etc. do not count, obviously.)
4. Challenge begins on January 1st, 2011 and ends on December 31st. Books read before or after do not count.
5. You do not have to make a list and stick to it. Go ahead and make a list if you like, of course, but you don't have to stick to it.

Books I've Read
  1. Rules for a Perfect Life by Niamh Greene
  2. Extra Confessions of a Working Girl by Miss S
  3. The Tiny Miracle by Carol Marinelli
  4. The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks
  5. The Wedding Girl by Madeleine Wicham
  6. Catch Us If You Can by Catherine MacPhail
  7. Room by Emma Donoghue

Teaser Tuesdays - 8/3/2011

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page

"Occassionally, fiction books are co-authored and these can present more problems than non-fiction: rarely you can establish an exact division on who did what. One author invariably thinks they have produced 51 per cent of the work and their colleague, 49 per cent. "

Booking Through Thursday - 3/3/2011

Do you cheat and peek at the ends of books? (Come on, be honest.)

My answer:
Be honest? LOL! Love that bit. I'd be lying if I've never done it. I don't like to ruin the suspense. Honestly throughout my reading life, I've done it once or twice when I was younger. Now, I just read slowly and "feel" the sentences as I read. :) It is more enjoyable that way!

The teaser.
"She has a babysitter or mother, though, a woman who bring her foil-wrapped package that the girl bats away, annoyed. Ray won't like the mother/babysitter hovering around."
