My answer:
Fortunately, my beloved bestfriend loves chic-lit! =) In my family, no one loves what I love. I read what they read but they do not read what I read. My dad is into financial/business books and a little bit of self-help books. My mom is into cooking books. One of my brother has recently fell in love with Nicholas Spark's. So far, I only share that with him. The other brother is into short ghost stories. I can read but I'm quite done with it.
Guess I've got quite a fair number of people around me who reads. I can consider myself lucky. No one buys and reads constantly though! Honestly, I talk about the books that I have read more on the WWW rather than with the people around me. Maybe because I don't meet my bookworm friends as often. The book bloggers a.k.a. bookaholics online are GREAT!!!!

It's nice to have someone to discuss with once in awhile, but I mostly just read. Not much discussion.
I too seldom get to discuss books with friends and family!
BTT: Discussion
Sometimes it's good to have book discussions even though no one has read the same book.
Here's my BTT.
You're better off than me. Most people around me don't read the same things I read. But I do love ghost stories! So, I'm with your brother on that one.

You're lucky to have lots of readers close by! My family reads but they live far from me, so we don't discuss much.
Yes, I know what you mean about not reading the same thing. My son reads Star Wars and that type thing which I'm not into. We do discuss what we're reading with one another. I ask more questions about what he's reading that he does about what I'm reading, though. I think he's waiting on me to shut-up!
My husband and I read completely different genres, but once in while one of us will convince the other to try something. It works...mostly.
